It has been wonderful to see the children return to school, following their summer holiday. We have had a lovely first week back and the children have quickly settled and been happy to return. Please look back at your webpage regularly, as this will be updated with news and photographs of the children learning.
We are starting off our wide and varied curriculum with a look at famous astronaut Neil Armstrong in English. We are going to be writing a biography of his fascinating life and recruiting our own space explorers too. After this study, we will be looking at a fiction piece called Christophe's Story. We'll be looking at the power of storytelling and how stories can affect us. After half term, we will be creating our own spooky podcasts, after listening to some examples. Finally, before Christmas, we will be looking at an anthology of poetry and creating our own poems.
In Maths, we are starting off our year looking at place value, the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) and measurement.
In Science, we are studying human nutrition and digestion, before moving onto electricity.
Our topic for the term is The Romans. We will be looking at life in Roman Britain, how The Romans lived and ate, what they wore, how they fought their battles and what life was like for a Roman Soldier.
In RE, we are studying Islam.
