Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is additional funding that is available to maintained and non-maintained schools. It is based on the number of children who are entitled to free school meals or have been entitled to free school meals over the previous six years. It also includes those children in care who have been continually looked after for more than six months.
Disadvantaged pupils may have a range of potential barriers which mean that they may make slower progress than other pupils, both at Hogarth Primary School and nationally.
We aim to enable every pupil to make outstanding progress and achieve their potential through consistently high-quality teaching, high expectations and standards, combined with a curriculum that caters for the individual needs of children and removes the identified barriers.
In addition to high-quality teaching, our use of the Pupil Premium provides additional support, such as an Learning Support Assistant (LSA) in each class and a programme of interventions, particularly in English and Mathematics to close the gap with non-disadvantaged pupils.
Pupil Premium is used to provide disadvantaged children with additional access to clubs and opportunities, e.g. attending extracurricular clubs.
We review the impact of our Pupil Premium spending each half term and review our Pupil Premium Strategy each year in September.
We aim to spend the Pupil Premium additional funding to ensure that we are successful in narrowing the gap and raising achievement for those children from low income and/or other disadvantaged backgrounds. We have a Pupil Premium action plan and a designated member of staff responsible for monitoring the success of the plan.
It is a requirement of the Pupil Premium Funding Grant that we identify and make public details about how this money is spent and what impact this has on outcomes for children. It is important to recognise that Pupil Premium is not the only income that we utilise to achieve this aim and Local Governors are responsible for monitoring the impact of all spending decisions in terms of outcomes for children.
In the academic year 2023/24, 28% of pupils at Hogarth Primary School are eligible for Pupil Premium. The total amount we project to receive in 2023/24 is £119,310.
The school will also receive £12,035 Recovery Premium.

To be eligible, you must be receiving one of the following:
- Income Support or income-based Job Seekers Allowance;
- Child Tax Credit with an annual taxable income of less than £16,190;
- Pension Guarantee Credit;
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance;
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
